WHAT ARE INTERVENTIONAL PROCEDURES?
The term interventional refers to using a mode of imaging to guide a needle into the correct place. These procedures are carried out using an ultrasound or CT machine to take pictures while the radiologist performs the procedure.

Interventional procedural appointments are not usually made late in the day, as some pathology samples need to be collected and sent to Perth. Appointment duration varies depending on the procedure that you are having performed and the procedure may require you to sit, stand or lie flat on your back or stomach.
The maximum weight limit of our CT machine is approx. 200kgs, but your body shape must also be considered. If you’re undergoing a CT guided procedure and have any concerns with regards weight limit, please discuss this with our staff when making your appointment.
You’ll be asked to sign a written consent prior to undergoing any interventional procedure.

A procedure report will be dispatched to your referring doctor within 24/48 hours of the interventional procedure via electronic methods or fax.
For any fine needle aspirations (FNA's) the samples are sent to an external pathology provider where your doctor will receive the results within 5-10 working days.
Please note it is not policy for Albany Imaging to release the results to the patient. If the patient desires a copy they will be asked to phone their referring Doctor.

It is recommended that you speak to the radiologist performing the procedure and/or consult with your referring doctor to discuss the relevant aftercare for each procedure.

You’re required to pay the full amount for services provided at the time of your attendance.
