FOR PATIENTS
Interventional Procedures
At Albany Imaging we provide a comprehensive range of diagnostic interventional radiology. The term interventional refers to using a mode of imaging to guide a needle into the correct place. These procedures are carried out using an ultrasound, or CT machine to take pictures whilst the radiologist performs the procedure for diagnostic or pain relief purposes.
Preparation
Preparation for interventional procedures varies depending on the type of procedure you’re having. We will need to know some of your medical history, medications and allergies to assist in planning your procedure. For some procedures you may be asked to fast from food and fluids, avoid certain medications and reduce exercise. Occasionally pre-procedural blood tests are required.
